Many traditions around the world describe a layer of vitality that moves through living things beyond what’s measured in a typical physical exam, called Qi in Chinese practice, prana in yogic tradition, and the biofield in contemporary research. The Subtle Energy Healing Immersion is a 6-week online training from Sounds True built around this idea: that ordinary people, not just professional healers, can learn to work with this energy for themselves and the people (and animals) they care about. Three teachers lead the program together: Qigong master Robert Peng, Integrated Energy Therapy instructor Laurie Nealon, and biofield researcher Shamini Jain, PhD.
If you want to learn energy healing online but have never studied it formally, or you already work in bodywork, coaching, caregiving, or healthcare and want to add an energetic layer to what you do, this program was built with exactly that range of people in mind.
The Idea Behind the Course
A growing number of researchers, including groups connected to the NIH’s National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health, Harvard, Stanford, and the Mayo Clinic, have begun studying what practitioners have described for centuries: that working consciously with the body’s energy can influence physical and emotional health. This course treats that research and the felt experience of practice as two halves of the same coin, pairing hands-on techniques with a dedicated session on what the science actually shows.
Who Tends to Take This Course
The program doesn’t assume any prior training. Past participants and the course’s stated audience include:
Adult children and family members caring for aging or chronically ill relatives
- Parents managing the everyday bumps, stresses, and health of their kids
- People who want to support pets and other animals in their care
- Massage therapists and other bodyworkers adding an energetic component to hands-on sessions
- Nurses, aides, and therapists in palliative, rehab, or long-term care settings
- Coaches and psychotherapists whose clients respond to somatic or energy-based approaches
- Reiki, Therapeutic Touch, Healing Touch, TCM, and Ayurvedic practitioners looking to broaden their existing skill set
- Anyone simply curious about the biofield and their own intuitive capacity
Worth noting for anyone researching an energy healing certification online: this is an experiential training, not an accredited certification, and it doesn’t currently carry CEUs. What it offers instead is sustained, guided practice across three distinct modalities in a single cohort.
The Three Teachers
Robert Peng began training in Qigong at age eight in Hunan, China, under a monk who had survived the closure of China’s monasteries during the Cultural Revolution. He has since taught well over 100,000 students internationally, written The Master Key for Sounds True, and was recognized by Spirituality & Health magazine as one of its Top 10 Spiritual Heroes in 2013.
Laurie Nealon has worked as an energy healer and intuitive for more than a decade and a half, both in person and remotely, and holds Master-Instructor status in Integrated Energy Therapy. Her approach centers on releasing old emotional and physical patterns stored in the body, using the energy field as the point of access.
Shamini Jain, PhD, trained as a clinical psychologist and researcher, earning her doctorate at UC San Diego and completing postdoctoral work at UCLA. She founded the Consciousness and Healing Initiative and wrote Healing Ourselves: Biofield Science and the Future of Health. She’s also a classically trained singer, which shapes her focus on sound and voice as healing tools.
How the Six Weeks Are Structured
The first three weeks belong to Laurie Nealon, who walks participants through opening their own energy field, working with what she calls the body’s stored emotional patterns, and then extending that healing to family and friends.
Midway through, Shamini Jain leads a live science-focused Q&A, giving participants, including skeptics, a chance to ask direct questions about what current research does and doesn’t support.
The final three weeks belong to Robert Peng, covering foundational Qigong movement practices, hands-on energy techniques, and finishing with distance healing and group practice.
By the program’s end, participants should be able to open and calm their own energy field, work consciously with the chakras, direct energy through touch and voice, and send healing to someone who isn’t in the room, including long-distance and group healing work.
Schedule and Time Commitment
The cohort runs August 23 through October 4, 2026. It combines a new recorded lesson each week with live components: an opening session and closing session featuring all three teachers, three separate live Q&As (one per teacher), and community practice meetups every Thursday, held at two different times to accommodate multiple time zones. Everything live is recorded, and access to the full course doesn’t expire. Total weekly time commitment runs roughly two to four hours.
What the Research Suggests
Course materials reference studies linking energy-based practices to reduced chronic pain and inflammation, better immune response, lower blood pressure, improved sleep, reduced anxiety and depressive symptoms, and support during recovery from surgery or trauma. The program is clear that it’s meant to complement, not replace, medical or mental health treatment.
Where Sound Fits In
Compared to many sound healing online course offerings that stay purely instructional, this one closes with a live, guided vocal toning and mantra session led by Shamini Jain, directly tying the science of sound to a shared group experience rather than a passive listen.
If You’re Considering This Program
Whether the pull is toward easing burnout and stress, supporting a family member’s health, or going deeper with an energy practice you already have, this immersion offers a structured, teacher-led six weeks with built-in community rather than a self-study course you work through alone. Full teacher bios, the week-by-week breakdown, and enrollment details are available on the course page linked below.
